WHOOPS: Change in Den Meeting Date

Dear Wolf Den Community:

The next Den meeting will take place on MONDAY, December 5, 2005. The read-a-thon was scheduled on top of our den meeting, much to the chagrin and annoyance of the school staff member who is in charge of scheduling events at the school.

She was very, very accommodating and apologetic, as well as annoyed on our behalf.

So—to repeat—we will meet MONDAY next week, rather than Tuesday.

Please respond to this email/blog entry to let me know that you got this message.

Best regards,

Ken

Popcorn, Bowling, and More

Dear Wolf Den Community:
  • Thanks for collecting all the popcorn last night. Please bring popcorn money next week. Checks should be made out to "PACK 108." I need to turn the money in on Thursday.
  • Reminder: The pack's bowling activity is scheduled for December 11 at 11:45 AM--St. Charles Bowl. The cost per person is $8.50 for shoes and two games. Please let Dave or Chrissy know if you would like to participate before the end of the day.
  • Interest in attending the Nutcracker has ground to a halt...we will get our culture some other way this year.
  • Operation Cubsicle--the winter day camp--is scheduled for Saturday, January 7. Cost is $15 per Cub Scout and $6 per adult. As I need $ for this by next week as well (it's amazing how the holiday season can cost so much--so quickly). If you write a check for this, it needs to be made out to "THREE FIRES COUNCIL." Please also fill out the medical background form I shared earlier. (This is simply a parent statement of the scout’s current state of health. The document is available at http://www.scouting.org/forms/34414.pdf)
  • That's it for now...thanks, as always, for your support of the program.

November 29 Den Meeting

Next meeting date: 29 November, 6:30 PM. Community Room, Davis School

Theme: Helping One Another

Notes:

· Thanks to Mr. Mickelson for hosting the visit to the fire station last week.

· Congratulations to the members of the den—everyone is now a Bobcat.

· We will meet at the school as normal.

· Please continue working on the Wolf badge requirements.

· Long term—collections. To meet one of the the Wolf requirements, we will display our collections at the January pack meeting…

· Treats for the next few weeks

o November 29: Ann W.

o December 6: Ginny

o December 13: Ginny (meeting location to be determined—the community room/gym are in use that week)

o December 20: Bonnie K. (meeting location to be determined—the community room/gym are in use that week)

· Reminder that dues are $1.00 per week…most everyone is good here…check with me at the meeting for your status. If it is more convenient for you, I can take quarterly/monthly dues ($5 increments work well). Cash is good, as I don’t wish to intermingle my account with the Den’s.

Upcoming Meetings:

· Special Meeting: is anyone else interested in attending “The Nutcracker” as a den? It would meet one of the Wolf Requirements….and they might even enjoy it, too. I will look into dates and costs—or at least manage to call back when I can get more than a recorded message.

· Special Activity: Operation Cubsicle. This is a one day outdoor experience available on Saturday, January 8, 2006 Registration fee ($15 per cub scout/$6 per adult) is due on December 10. For leadership, we need two adults to begin with, and then one adult for every five scouts above the first ten. If all the members of Den 7 can attend (11 cubs), we will need three adults. This activity is designed to be like one day of cub scout day camp, but with winter activities. The program includes lunch, hot chocolate, programming, and a commemorative badge. There is a limit of 175 participants, so we will want to register by the deadline—or earlier. A current “class one” physical form is required for all participants. (This is simply a parent statement of the scout’s current state of health. The document is available at http://www.scouting.org/forms/34414.pdf) There is indoor shelter available for warming.

Thanks for your support of the pack and den.
