Dear Den 7 Community:

I waned to thank you all for your extreme generosity...I was surprised and deeply touched at your thoughtfulness, not only for the gift certificate, but for the kind notes and pictures from the cub scouts themselves. It was completely unexpected, and I want you all to know how much it is appreciated.

If you would share your mailing address with me, I'll send the cub scouts a post card from Cimarron, NM (the home of the national scout camp). I'm going to be there for a couple of weeks in June, and I would like to send the cubs a card.

Next Thursday is the pack's annual planning meeting at the Stubbs's house. We have by far the largest den in the pack, so we can contribute to the pack's program with our ideas and our energy.

I'll arrange a den outing for early July when I get back, plus another one in August. We won't meet weekly with den meetings until the school year starts up again.

Again, my sincere thanks for your generosity and your support of scouting.

Den Weekly Update for 5/14 - 5/21

Dear Den 7 Community:

NO DEN MEETING 5/16. I will not be back from a school field trip in time.

Thanks to Jane Siarny for picking up the pieces of the cancelled den campout. If someone can send me a list of Cub Scout participants, I will arrange for swimming segments for the pack crossover meeting on Friday.

Upcoming:
Friday, 19 May. Crossover Event. 5:00 PM, LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve.
Potluck meal—each den gets “promoted” to the next level in Cub Scouting—our wolf den will become a bear den, and receive a new neckerchief and handbook.

Chrissy Stubbs will send out a flyer later in the week with the particulars.

Sunday, 21 May. Pack Day in the Park. 1:00 – 4:00 PM, Jon J. Duerr (formerly Blackhawk) Forest Preserve, Rt. 31. Family fun day….look for a flyer from Chrissy later this week with the particulars.


Tuesday, 23 May. Den Meeting. We will take a hike as part of our regular den meeting, and complete the requirements for the Jamboree on the Trail award. I’ll have a route ready for you shortly.

I look back at the weather we had this weekend, and while I regret that the campout was cancelled, considering the weather we encountered, it was probably for the best. Cold and rain for a first experience…is probably not the best idea.

I’ll see all of you on Friday for the Crossover Event.

Den Weekly Update, 05.07

Dear Den 7 Community:

Den meeting will take place at Davis School Tuesday at 6:30 PM.

I am hosting a field trip the following Tuesday, so do not plan on a meeting the following week--I'm not certain that I will arrive back in time. Sorry that work is getting in the way.

If a couple of folks could supply wrapping paper (for Mother’s Day gifts) and someone could bring the treats that would be helpful. If you can, simply hit “reply all.”

For about half of us, the campout is coming up on Friday. I spent some time there to “scope out” the site—we have tables, fire ring, fire wood, and a large area to play games. If anyone who is not coming out for the campout wants to spend Friday evening or Saturday morning with those who are camping—that is great; just let me know so I can plan appropriately.

I’ll see everyone on Tuesday!
