Den 7: Sci Tech Reminder

Dear Den 7 Community:

Thanks to all who contributed to a great meeting tonight...having extra hands made it go well, especially with the hands on lessons in knife safety and sharpening knives. At the next pack meeting, we will issue "Totin' Chip" cards, which operate as a basic license for cub scouts to use a knife. It certifies that he is aware of the rules of using a knife safely.

In other news....I didn't get some clear commitments from a number of Cub Scouts regarding the trip to Sci-Tech....

I'm still planning on departing at 1:00 PM on Sunday....and this is what I know so far:

Micky C.—not going

Peter E.--?

Garrett F.—tentatively going

Trent H.--?

Zachary K.—going, Bonnie driving

Marshall K.—going

Clayton M.—going, riding with Ken

Kalin R.--?

Timothy S.—going, Jane as backup driver

Kenny W.--?

If you'd be so kind as to confirm one way or another if you are in the "?" category, it would be appreciated. Details for the trip are at

http://pack108.blogspot.com/

If you haven't been there before, it is a nice little interactive science museum....bring the rest of your children and explore together.

Best regards,

Ken

Den 7 Update

Dear Den 7 Community:

This week we will continue/finish our knife safety practice, so everyone should be "official" in terms of knowing cub scout knife safety rules.

If your son has a pocketknife, he is welcome to bring it to the meeting so we can practice sharpening it.

Based on my observations from last week, please take a moment to remind them (as I will) that knives are not toys, and using them is a privilege. That's the emphasis of the cub scout safety rules, so I will seek to emphasize them.

Next Sunday is the CS field trip to Sci-Tech in Aurora. I trust that the weather will be better.
