***
Who:
Members of Pack 108: Youth, siblings and parents
What:
Pack Hike and Ice Cream Feast
Where:
Campton Hills Forest Preserve is Town Hall Road, approximately 6 miles west of Randall Road on IL 64. Town Hall Road is approximately 1 mile west of Wasco. Tun left (South) at Town Hall Road. The entrance to Campton Hills is on the left.
Pack 108 has reserved the shelter for our exclusive use.
When:
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on August18
Why:
The outdoor program is at the heart of scouting.
Program:
In keeping with the warm weather, the hike will be relatively short.
We will follow a series of clues that lead us to items hidden along the trail—toppings for ice cream sundaes. Once all of the items are collected, we will return and enjoy the ice cream.
Please bring water, sunblock, and any weather-related items needed.
RSVP:
Please confirm your attendance to Ken King (630-513-0494 or kenneth.p.king@gmail.com) by Thursday, August 16. I will go shopping that evening and purchase materials based on the number of responses I have by 6:00 PM on the 16th.
Additional note:
I returned from the 100th anniversary World Scout Jamboree over the weekend. If you're curious as to what went on, there are a few pictures available on the slide show. I worked as an adult staff member, which accounts for the picture taken in a pub with one of my friends, as he enjoys a tepid beer on our day off. Of all the scouting experiences I have had in nearly 40 years of involvement in the movement, I would place this experience among the top 3. The next one is in Sweden in 2011.....but the boys in the pack will be old enough to attend one in 2015 (location to be determined)
