Weekly Update

Dear Den 7 Community:

Weekly update time. We will finish up our games./folklore experiences this week. If you son has not shared a game or a story from folklore (he can simply tell the story--no need to read it from a book), we will be all set with those Bear Requirements.

This week:
Snack: Ferry Family
Helpers: Siarny family

Pinewood Derby is the 27th of February. I don't know the time yet, but have requested that information.

Not that it matters, but I will not be present at the Pinewood Derby...I'll be teaching. If you're in the mood for a correspondence course in science education, you may follow along here: http://faculty.roosevelt.edu/King/courses/eled_426/2007_spring/ :-)

Permanent record at http://pack108.blogspot.com/

Best regards,

Ken

Special Opportunity and Resources for Cub Scout Games

Dear Den 7 Community:

Games
Just to help out a bit....some Cub Scout games are available at these links...perhaps you can play them at home with your sons before they share them at one of the next den meetings:
http://www.netwoods.com/delta/delta-hb.html
http://www.netwoods.com/d-games.html
http://www.geocities.com/~PACK215/games.html

Special Opportunity
On the 23rd of January, we will resume our month's theme of "Poles Apart" with a special guest. Betty Trummel is a friend of mine, who, as a grade 4 teacher, took part in a scientific research project in Antartica. While she was working on the academic research, she also spent time developing activities for elementary children to learn about that part of the world. She returned to the US three days ago, and being a generous soul, will share some of her stories and activites with the Cub Scouts in Den 7. As one of her sons earned the Eagle Scout award, so she knows about Cub Scouting and as an elementary teacher, she is very gifted at working with young people.

Your entire family is welcome to stay for her presentation.

Some links to Betty's recent and previous projects:

And, for the record, let me wish all of you and your families a happy new year.

Best regards,

Ken
