Webelos Den Weekly Update, Week of 9 December
Dear Webelos Den Parents:
My notes remind me that the Kampens are treating us to a treat and the the Wahabs are treating helping with the meeting itself.
We will continue work on our Engineering Activity Badge for the rest of this month and into January.
I know we have a couple of fathers in the den who are involved in construction--if you can arrange for the boys in the den to visit a construction site for our Engineering badge, that would be great. Please drop me a note and let me know how we can work out the details.
Last week, I sent home some graph paper and handout with architectural symbols. Please help your son remember to draw a floor plan of one floor for your house--this is one of the requirements for the Engineering badge--and bring it to the meeting this week.
This week, we will be constructing catapults. Please send a philips-head screwdriver to the meeting with your son, so that we can construct the catapults. Anyone else who can stop in and help--and bring with them an electric drill and a set of bits would be appreciated. I will have all of the pieces marked by Tuesday, and could use help getting the holes drilled.
Regarding the Webelos Winter Adventure to Marquette, MI, perhaps we can all chat next week before the start of the pack meeting. As it is our den's turn to set up and take down the chairs for the meeting, if we could gather at 6:00 talk about the trip while the boys get the chairs into place, I can answer any questions that may have come up. Long term planning is helpful, in part due to the cost and logistics, but also getting things needed for the adventure (in particular, winter boots and snow pants).
Best regards,
Ken
