Resident Camp and Day Camp

Dear Pack 108 Parents:

I made the pitch for Cub Scout and Webelos Resident Camp at the last two pack meetings, but now registration time is approaching, so if you wish to commit, now is the time.

For Cub Scouts (and first-year Webelos), I recommend the program at Indian Mound Reservation, Oconomowow, WI (July 10-13). This is best experienced with a parent and child.

I am preparing the reservation documents for them for them at the moment. Based on the fee for one youth + tent ($110)/one adult + tent ($55) per family, the fee is $165, made out to "Milwaukee County Council." If you don't wish to use the tent/cot/mosquito netting the camp provides, you can knock $20 off the fee for a total of $145. Boys will need a health history (as will adults) to be shared upon arrival at camp.

If you can bring a check to me at Pack meeting on April 27, I will make the reservation.

The leader guide is available here: http://www.milwaukeeboyscouts.org/site/c.huLSJ6MUKxH/b.1630543/

Second year webelos have an easier registration system for the camp held from June 29 - July 3: simply sign up/register at http://www.neic.org/registration/calendardetail.asp?orgkey=947&ActivityKey=377714

If you want a day camp experience, these are also available. I recommend making a decision by dens to take part in the programs offered by the local Three Fires Council. Details are listed here: http://www.threefirescouncil.org/Camping/cp_cub_scout_summer_camp_index.htm

The closest day camps are among those listed for the Fox Valley District. These are held at Good Templar Park in Geneva.

I hope that one or more of these are of interest to you or your sons....boys join scouting because they want to go camping, and these represent some excellent ways to get started with a organized staff to help you make it happen.

Best regards,

Ken
