Dear Den 7 Community:
RE: Tekakwitha Woods event. Save for the folks who told me they were going out of town, no one except for Jane expressed interest in participating. Regardless, I'm still in favor of going, and I'll be out at TW to lead a hike/nature study experience. I'll be at the Tekakwitha Woods parking lot at 10:30 on Tuesday morning, rather than meeting at the school at 9:30.
No word yet on the organizational issues related to the parade later this week. Please watch this space for further updates. (

Pack Meeting Notes:
The pack leaders also elected to have a uniform inspection that night as well. Badge placement is in the handbook, as well as here:
http://www.scouting.org/forms/34282.pdfAt the pack meeting next week (28 November), I want to pass on a reminder that we will be performing the opening and closing, so please have you scout to Davis School by 6:15 so that we can have a final practice.
The script for the opening and closing is below. Please have your young knight read through his line a few times before the meeting.:
Den Leader: Hear ye! Hear ye! The Kingdom of Cub Scouting requests your presence before the Royalty of the Land! (Royal trumpet sounds) Prepare for the entrance of the Knights.
Boys stand at the front of the room holding shields. Tape opening ceremony instructions inside the shields. Let boys carry homemade shields and cardboard swords. Carry flags for the dens. Play marching music
Den Leader: Knights! Hold your swords at attention while the America flag is brought up.
Reader 1: The flags, shields and banners of kings were symbols of the monarchy. Fleur-de-lis, lions, trees, symbolize strength, purity or the place of the king.
Reader 2: Our banner has three colors, and stars as symbols.
Reader 3: Our colors show red for bravery, white for purity and blue for loyalty.
Reader 4: The stripes stand for the thirteen colonies, and
Reader 5: The stars stand for all the states.
Reader 6: Knights and courtiers of the Kingdom, please stand for the symbol of our land. Color Guard, Forward March. Pack 108, Salute!
